Monoclonal Antibody Treatment for Covid-19

Monoclonal Antibodies are a set of antibodies that are derived from a single cell(WBC cells) which has the same identical properties and epitopes of the derived cells. With Vaccines are rolled out in large number for prevention of COVID, the treatments to eradicate COVID-19 among people who are severely affected still remains at large.

With a huge number of drugs approved by the FDA such as Baricitinub and Remdesivir, The FDA has also approved the usage of target-specific monoclonal antibodies for the treatment of COVID-19. With the delta variant spreading at a higher speed and as the report shows that the children are mostly affected as a result of it, there are no vaccines approved for them to defend against the virus. The need for various treatments still remains at large and the usage of Monoclonal Antibodies might have a say in treating the virus.
Still, Going Strong eh?

With the antigen responsible for causing the disease is well know, the monoclonal antibodies are designed to be in such a way that they have the potential to target those antigens and eliminate them.

Even for a normal treatment by using monoclonal antibodies, it may have some side effects related to fever, nausea, vomiting, etc.. but the effectiveness of using the monoclonal antibodies cannot be questioned as they are highly effective in tackling the virus.

It is also reported that the Celltrion's Monoclonal Antibody Variant named Regdanvimab under In-vivo studies has shown higher neutralizing ability while targetting the delta variant, which has been rapidly spreading among 96 countries around the world. The in-vivo studies have also shown a 100% survival rate against the COVID-19 virus. The reports have also shown that the antibody was highly effective in neutralizing various variants such as beta and gamma respectively.

With positive reports surrounding the usage of monoclonal antibodies and with positive research reports, it's only a matter of time before the usage of monoclonal antibodies for treating COVID-19!
